• Errata Salon: Creatures, at Betalevel, Chinatown.  This monthly nonfiction reading series of weird essays, unexpected histories, nonconformist lectures, and works in progress presents Creatures, with Laura Bliss and Shannon Supple.  8pm.
• Extraordinary: A Performance Of Spontaneity Conceived by Grant Shumate, at The Underground Museum, West Adams.  Commonwealth projects presents appearances by Vex Ruffin, Nana Ghana, Chad Nelson, DJ Heidi Lawden, Aaron Rose, Calvin Chan, New Orleans Traditional Jazz Band, Ramith Black, and Ryan Young. 9pm.

Friday, June 20 

• The Artist & The Computer #2: Auteurs and Experiments, at Cinefamily, West Hollywood.  Follow-up to previous night’s Information Age ‘big bang’ tour, a screening of works by computer pioneers John Whitney, Larry Cuba, John Stehura, Lillian Schwartz, Ed Emshwiller and Stan VanDerBeek.  8pm.
• The Wooster Group: Rumstick Road (West Coast film premiere), at 356 S. Mission Road, Boyle Heights.  Ghosts are captured on camera inthis genuinely haunting ‘video reconstruction’ of a performance from the mid-1970s by the Wooster Group.  Artist Shannon Ebner introduces the West Coast premiere.  8pm.
• James Hood presents A Midsummer Nights Ceremony, at Vortex Immersion Media, DTLA.  Taking place in The Vortex, a 360 degree dome, with a live performance of James Hood’s Ceremony, immersive visuals feat. artwork from Tatiana Plakhova, celestial sounds, hypnotronic music, plus food and drink.  3pm & 8pm.

Saturday, June 21 

• Wikipedia Meetup: Unforgetting L.A. #4, at 356 S. Mission, Boyle Heights.  Join online magazine East of Borneo for a Wikipedia edit-a-thon aimed to build a better history of art in Southern California.  This meetup focuses on the history of local art spaces and publications.  12-5pm.
• Motion Tracking: CalArts Post-Graduate Exhibition, at Cirrus Gallery / HyperHyper, DTLA.  New works from graduating MFAs map layers of physical and technological distance between the artist in control, their image, the site of its projection, and that of its reception. Curated by William Kaminski (co-director of former alterna space, Control Room).  Opening reception: 6-10pm.  Through July 12th.

• Talk and Talk and— baumtest no. 3 Launch & Exhibition, at pehrspace, Echo Park.  One night exhibition and launch celebrating the third issue of baumtest, a quarterly arts journal co-founded by five artists and writers based in Los Angeles.  8-11pm.

• Boy Band Audition: Alexandro + Mateo Segade, at Human Resources, Chinatown.  Combining science-fiction, electronic pop music, and audience participation, an interactive performance night of dancing, singing, and imagining life after the future is over.  8:30pm.

• Sounds For An Other Tomorrow—An Evening of Utopian Music, at Santa Monica Museum of Art, Santa Monica.  Kelly Marie Martin, Erin Schneider, and John Schneider—members of the Llano Del Rio Collective—present three short programs.  7-8:30pm

• there is nothing happening above us, at Wərkärtz, DTLA.  New works by LA artists Jason Burgess and Páll Haukur in the 10,000 sq ft art complex’s gallery.  Burgess exhibits new paintings alongside installations and site-specific works by Haukur.  Curated by Shelley Holcomb.  Through June 21st.
